The installation instructions provide a step-by-step guide through the setup process, including information about actions to take in case of errors.
If your operating system is XP you must have at least Service Pack 2 installed.
Service Pack 3 is OK, but if you have Service Pack 1, it must be upgraded. Service packs are a free download from Microsoft.

• 32-Bit Systems: Computer with Intel or compatible 1GHz or faster processor (2 GHz or faster is recommended. Only a single processor is supported)
• 64-Bit Systems: 1.4 GHz or higher processor (2 GHz or faster is recommended. Only a single processor is supported)
• Minimum of 512 MB of RAM (1 GB or more is recommended)
• 1 GB of free hard disk space
