NOTE: UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF NVRA AND/OR RULES PROMULGATED BY THE STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS IMPLEMENTING THE PROVISIONS OF NVRA. A VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATION MAY BE EXECUTED WHILE VOTER REGISTRATION IS CLOSED, BUT IN SUCH CASE SUCH APPLICATION SHALL NOT ENTITLE THE APPLICANT TO VOTE AT ANY ELECTION HELD BEFORE REGISTRATION RE-OPENS. APPLICATIONS FOR NVRA REGISTRATION COMPLETED WITHIN THE FIVE (5) DAY PERIOD PRECEDING THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE AT SECRETARY OF STATE FACILITIES AND QUALIFIED AGENCIES MUST BE TRANSMITTED WITHIN FIVE (5) DAYS OF COMPLETION AND MUST BE PROCESSED FOR THE NEXT ELECTION. A MAIL REGISTRATION APPLICATION SHALL BE DEEMED TIMELY FILED IF POSTMARKED PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF REGISTRATION. IF NO POSTMARK EXISTS OR IF THE POSTMARK IS ILLEGIBLE, THE APPLICATION SHALL BE CONSIDERED TIMELY FILED IF RECEIVED BY THE ELECTION AUTHORITY NO LATER THAN FIVE (5) CALENDAR DAYS AFTER THE CLOSE OF REGISTRATION. Last day for registration of voters by deputy registrars, including municipal, township, road district clerks and precinct committeemen. Precinct registration may apply to the City of Chicago. Please check with this jurisdiction for registration deadlines. [10 ILCS 5/4-6.2(a), 5-16.2(a), 6-50.2(a)] NOTE: Deputy Registrars must return completed forms to the election authority within 7 days of the day on which they are completed. Registrations accepted during the period of 35 - 28 days before an election must be returned within 48 hours. Registrations accepted on the 28th day must be returned within 24 hours. Members of the Armed Forces may make application via facsimile machine or other method of electronic transmission.
