Description:	Last day (by 5:00 p.m.) for independent and new party candidates to file original nomination papers. Candidates for federal, legislative, judicial offices, or for any office to be elected by the voters of more than one county, shall file nomination papers in the principal office of the State Board of Elections. For the November 3, 2020, General Election, a statewide new political party slate must include the names of a candidate for President and Vice President. Petitions for President and Vice President must include a list of Presidential electors' names and addresses. Candidates for county office will file in the office of the county clerk. New party petitions must also include a certificate of officers authorized to fill a vacancy in nomination. Failure to file the certificate will result in the party forfeiting the ability to fill a vacancy in nomination. (10 ILCS 5/10-2, 10-3, 10-5, 10-6) NOTE: The following court case has held that the full-slate requirement for new political parties is unconstitutional: Libertarian Party of Illinois v. ISBE, et al., 872 F.3d 518 (7th Cir. 2017).

Event:	STATEMENT OF ECONOMIC INTERESTS

Description:	Last day for filing a Statement of Economic Interests with the proper office as required by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Candidates who file petitions with the county clerk and have a current Statement of Economic Interests on file for the same office with the same county do not have to file an additional receipt. Candidates who file petitions with the State Board of Elections must file a current receipt for the same office with the petitions. The receipt must be filed no later than 5:00 p.m. (5 ILCS 420/4A-105; 10 ILCS 5/10-5) EXCPETION: Candidates for federal office are not required to file a state economic interest statement.
